Manuel Knott has joined the scientific team of SDSC in September 2021. Manuel received a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, and another MSc in Data Science from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. From 2018 until 2021, he worked as a data scientist in Industry mainly focusing on data-driven applications in manufacturing and 3D computer vision. He recently started a joint PhD position with Empa and SDSC where he is working on physics-inspired machine learning models to predict the quality decay of fruits in postharvest supply chains. Another research focus will be deep generative models for image generation and classification.
