Thomas Stegmüller
Thomas Stegmüller joined the SDSC in February 2026 as a Senior Data Scientist in the Research team, based in Lausanne.
Thomas earned his PhD at EPFL, where his research focused on self-supervised visual representation learning for dense downstream tasks such as semantic segmentation and object detection. His work also explored vision–language alignment and zero-shot segmentation. He holds a Master’s degree in Data Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, both from EPFL. After completing his PhD, Thomas worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at a Zurich-based startup, where he designed and developed computer vision algorithms — including self-supervised learning and knowledge distillation — for an open-source Python library enabling efficient training of vision models.
