First Call for Vaud Projects

The collaboration between the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) and the Canton of Vaud aims to generate a tangible and lasting impact on the economy and public community of the Vaud region. In this context, the SDSC supports collaborative projects in the field of data science, bringing together the strengths of academic excellence, high-potential companies, and public actors.

Supported projects are awarded on a competitive basis through a call for projects, either to individual companies or to established academic/industrial consortia in the Canton of Vaud. Each collaborative project must demonstrate significant impact potential, ideally (but not exclusively) in one of the following areas:

Energy and Sustainability
Health and Biomedical
Social Impact and Digital Transformation

‍

The support offered includes both human and financial resources, comprising the following elements:

‍

Direct Financial Assistance: Funding of up to CHF 150’000 will be granted to support the salary costs of the companies/consortia involved in the project.
Human Resources Contribution: SDSC personnel will support the management and implementation of projects over a one-year period.

May 31, 2025: Notification of selected projects.
June-July 2025: Project start.

Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Submit a project description of maximum 10 pages, using the template provided below, which includes the following details:

Partners and their roles.
Budget and financing details, including business model description
Key phases of project timeline
Project outcome indicators.

It is also recommended to provide a pitch deck: a presentation of approximately 10 minutes highlighting the key aspects of the project, in PPTx, PDF, or video format.

Submit your proposal within the dedicated timeframe, which runs until April 17, 2025.

Selection committee

The submitted projects will be reviewed by a panel of highly qualified experts and a steering committee, including members from Canton Vaud, academia (UNIL, EPFL, Haute Écoles), the private sector, Biopôle, and SDSC.

Selected projects following the pre-submission phase are invited to submit full proposals until April 17, 2025. Project owners have been personally notified.
