2nd National Calls for Projects

As of 2025, the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is a National Research Infrastructure expanding its mandate to advance data science and artificial intelligence (AI) across research, industry, and the public sector in Switzerland.

The SDSC provides expertise and services for the design and implementation of strategic data science projects, including support for the development of research data infrastructures and data science platforms. While it places particular emphasis on projects in health and biomedical sciences, climate and environment, energy and sustainability, digital society, and data science for large-scale research infrastructures, the SDSC continues to support initiatives across all domains.

In this context, we are launching our second National Calls for collaborative projects set to begin in 2026. The call procedure enables the SDSC to identify and engage in impactful projects and collaborations and is a vital instrument to allocate our resources in a fair and transparent manner. The calls for collaborative projects are announced on a national level and focus on the following areas:

The 2025 Call for Collaborative Data Science Research Projects offers to contribute in-kind expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning and AI to projects from different application domains requiring research-informed methodology.
The 2025 Call for End-User Innovation Projects aims to ensure that novelty developed in an academic or research context achieves its full potential in end-user contexts, serving a community or society at large, e.g. public institutions, industrial and/or economic stakeholders.
The 2025 Call for Collaborative Data Science Infrastructure Projects supports community-driven, FAIR-aligned initiatives to design, prototype, or develop sustainable and reusable data science infrastructure with potential for lasting impact across scientific domains and institutions.
