The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) and the Idiap Research Institute (Idiap) have partnered to develop Renku, a cutting-edge collaborative data science platform.
To advance collaborative, reproducible, and sustainable research, the SDSC and Idiap are working together to integrate and extend the Renku platform. This collaboration will tailor Renku to Idiap's specific needs and use cases, while also addressing future computing requirements. Both institutions prioritize collaborative and reproducible research, and this joint effort will shape Renku into a powerful collaborative cloud infrastructure.
With a well-defined set of requirements, Idiap already had plans for developing their own in-house platform before they learned about Renku. In fact, Idiap wanted to provide their researchers with a centralized hub from which they could access computational resources in an easy and user-friendly way. In addition, the platform would empower team members to collaborate on data science projects by removing technical barriers, facilitating the reuse of data and templates, and promoting best practices for open and sustainable computational research.
These requirements were fully aligned with Renku’s capabilities and vision. Idiap therefore decided to partner with the SDSC to develop Renku’s most relevant features for their use cases, aiming to establish it as the central platform for all Idiap research projects.
This partnership aligns fully with the SDSC mandate to enable and promote data science within institutions outside of the ETH domain.
