Diana Avalos joined SDSC in July 2025 as a Data Scientist in the Innovation team.
Diana holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Geneva, where she studied regulatory networks of gene expression in immune cells, focusing on cell type–specific gene regulation through the integration of multi-omics data. She also holds a master’s degree in Computational Neuroscience, completed jointly at EPFL and Grenoble INP Phelma.
Prior to her Ph.D., she began her career in San Francisco, working on brain–machine interfaces and data science applications in neuroscience. She later worked as a Biology and Bioinformatics Analyst, collaborating with clinicians to provide strategic guidance on the interpretation of genetic tests.
She has broad interests in data science and AI/ML, with a particular focus on scientific applications in healthcare.
